Abstract:
Our students have grown up surrounded by unprecedented explosive growth in choice.
Related research ranges from the psychological view that excess of choice causes anguish,
to the more positive anthropological focus on the structural and creative role of "empty choices".
How has this fluid environment actually molded students' expectations of both software tools and educational experiences?
What are the consequences for education, pedagogical design, and online courses? And how can - or should - faculty deal with this?
