The Rule of Thirds helps to produce balanced images and keeps the subject away from the very edges of the frame. |

In landscapes like image d it really helps to divide sky and landscape in the 1-to-2 ratio, here two thirds landscape and one third sky. Image e has a nice balance between the upper third where the girl's head forms one center of the image, and the lower third where her arm and the cat form another one. |
